CIRSE 2008 in Copenhagen was an excellent event. As usual there was an excellent exhibition area with a large range of manufacturers displaying their latest and most innovative products. Here are a few that caught my eye:
The Biotronic Dynamic renal stent. This is made of Cobalt Chromium, coated in a Probio coating that they claim will help to reduce restenosis. The device goes over an 0.014 inch wire and goes up to 7mm.

AGA were demonstrating their Amplatzer 3 vascular plug for more rapid vascular occlusion

EV3 were demonstrating the Silverhawk device for plaque excision. We have used this on several occasions with success:

Radius medical technologies have two great spiral type snares with 0.035 and 0.014 inch profiles. These are torqueable and can be shaped. I can think of a few good uses for these:

There were of course many more, but as ever, time is limited.
3 new training videos:
Ureteric stent insertion
Bone RFA for osteoid osteoma
Carotid stenting in real life
Feel free to comment on any of these videos, add any tips you think others may find useful.
New reviews include:
Resonance ureteric stent
Cool-tip RF ablation system
New products on the site include:
The Medcomp Profuse port and Pro-PICC. Both of these are power injectable for CT. We would be interested to hear from anyone who has used a variety of these devices and could provide any comparative information.
The Gandras catheter (Vascular Solutions) for pelvic embolisation eg UFE
This includes a video of UFE being performed. We'd like to hear from anyone whos used this catheter.
We will have some more device reviews for you in the near future.
Keep your eye on the Global Interventional Forum for new interesting and problem cases.
Remember, post your views on any products you use, even upload your own review. If the device is not there, then let us know and we can add it to the category.
Your opinion counts!
